Addressing the Ball The positioning of your body relative to the ball before swinging.
Bogey A score of one shot above par on a given hole.
Birdie A score of one shot below par on a given hole.
Bunker A sandtrap
Cartpath A pathway beside each hole on the course to be used by power carts.
Divot A hole in the turf caused by a removal of a piece of turf when the club strikes the ground.
Eagle A score of two shots below par on a given hole.
Hazards A bunker (sandtrap) or watery area (pond).

Lost Ball A ball is considered lost if:
o It is not found within five minutes after the player has begun to search for it; or
o The player has put another ball into play, even though he may not have searched for the original ball;
Marshal A pro shop staff member who is responsible for maintaining the pace of play on the course. They usually monitor the course in a power cart.
Out of Bounds The area outside the golf course usually marked by white stakes or a fence.
Par An “ideal” score for a given hole including two putts on the green in addition to the tee shot and approach shot(s).
Pro Shop A store where golf equipment and clothing is sold, book tee times and arrange lessons.
Putting Green All ground of the hole being played which is specially prepared for putting. A ball is on the putting green when any part of it touches the putting green.
Stance Where or how you place your feet.
Tee A wooden peg where the ball is placed to hit the first shot on each hole.

The raised grassed mound (teeing ground) where the ball is placed behind the tee blocks to hit the first shot on a hole.
Water Hazard A pond or stream that lies between your route
and the hole.
